Reviews of our work...
"Almanac’s ‘happenings’ are never simply plays – the group describe themselves as ‘inventors and curators of out of the ordinary nights of theatre and music.’ This performance certainly fitted that bill. Contributors ranged from poet-prisoners of the Apartheid regime to musical inventors and screenwriters, including Frank Cottrell Boyce. Beyond their superbly delivered words, most pieces were brought to life by a live band that created the perfect sense of swagger, isolation or anger to entertain, and at all times engage, a captivated audience.
Every contribution revelled in the virtues of dissent and radicalism. Those who had fought for their views in the past were celebrated, people taking a stand against the current political status-quo were supported, and a future built on radical ideas was imagined."

"An inspiring, informative evening of songs and stories... encompassing politics, science, and of course music."
- Nerve Magazine on Radical Liverpool, May 2010
“In a scene saturated with drab indie bands, the value of such innovative events in Liverpool cannot be over-emphasized. It brings our community of singers and instrumentalists that bit closer, and reminds us of the true value of our craft. I can't recommend it enough.”
- John Smith on 'Murdering Songs'
